Northeast Medical Group was very active with community outreach efforts throughout the holiday season.
Bridgeport practices collected toys, clothing, food gift cards and household items during their Adopt-a-Family drive for the nonprofit LifeBridge Community Services. LifeBridge serves greater Bridgeport’s most vulnerable populations. Robert Mitchell, chair, NEMG community outreach, thanked employees for their donations.
“Helping someone experience the joy of the holidays is priceless,” he said. “It is not how much we give but how much love we put into giving. For it’s in giving that we receive grace – highlighting selflessness, connection and the joy found in helping others.”
Greenwich and Stamford Community Outreach Committee (COC) members collaborated with Cura Home Care Services to bring warmth and joy to 20 local families. They collected items such as warm clothing, blankets and comforters, household appliances and perfume for seniors and caregivers.
East Region practices partnered with the Salvation Army, collecting toys and clothing for local children. Employees also collected food for New London families’ holiday dinners. Westerly, RI-area NEMG practices hosted a holiday toy drive, with donations going to the Westerly Fire Department for distribution.
“Thank you to everyone who donated or volunteered with our Salvation Army event,” said Katie Poitras Sellari, director, ambulatory operations, East Region. “We collected enough items to help over 300 parents shop for toys and clothes for their children this Christmas.”
The North Haven management team came together to support a local family who lost two loved ones in a fire near the NEMG Devine Street campus. Stephanie Savinelli, director of ambulatory operations, contacted family members and learned that Christmas gifts would make a meaningful difference. Jumping quickly into action, the team raised over $2,000 to purchase every item on the family’s holiday wish lists.
“While we do not know this family personally – and they may not even be patients – they are our neighbors,” Savinelli said. “This effort reflects the true definition of the holiday spirit and what we do as leaders when our community is in need. I am incredibly proud to be part of a team that goes above and beyond to make a positive impact.”
