Yale New Haven Health marked the holidays with music, lights, gifts and gatherings. Here are just a few examples of how our staff celebrated the spirit of the season.
Employees from Yale New Haven Health’s Internal Audit and Controls helped unpack and sort donations for the Yale New Haven Hospital Auxiliary Toy Closet. The team has been volunteering for the Toy Closet for about four years. Staff with Yale New Haven Hospital’s NP 11 collected 150 toys for orphaned children in Medellin, Columbia, for the Cathy Salguero Foundation. Wendy Marin, patient care associate, visited Medellin to hold a Christmas party for the children featuring music, face painting and a visit from Santa, who distributed the gifts.
Santa took a break from his North Pole activities to help Bridgeport Hospital leaders hand out cookies to staff during the holidays. Among the recipients of the sweet treats was Anne Aquila, RN, director of Nursing.
Yale New Haven Hospital employees and physicians celebrated Chanukah in the York Street Campus Atrium, lighting the menorah and handing out latkes and other traditional treats.
Greenwich Hospital’s Acute Rehab team enjoyed the gift of one another at their holiday gathering.
The Yale Medical Symphony Orchestra entertained a big crowd in YNHH’s York Street Campus Atrium. Founded in 2008, the all-volunteer orchestra features members of the Yale medical community.
The Nurturing Families Holiday Toy Drive at L+M Hospital once again broke records as donations from staff and departments poured in, providing enough toys, clothes and other goods to support 50 families in need this season.
