Trauma and Burn

With the region's only Level 1 Trauma Center at Yale New Haven Hospital, our specially trained team treats adults and children with severe life-threatening injuries. The Trauma Center manages all critically injured patients through its critical care services; and treats patients with surgical emergencies both in the Emergency Department and in the hospital. It is the leading regional referral center for the management of traumatically injured patients. 

Bridgeport Hospital is a regional trauma center and is the home of the Connecticut Burn Center, the state’s only dedicated burn center. The hospital’s expert burn and trauma surgeons are supported by physicians in more than 70 medical and surgical specialties to ensure that the team can quickly assess a patient’s injuries and develop the most appropriate course of care. Bridgeport Hospital is also part of southern Connecticut’s only state-designated regional center for emergency preparedness and disaster response.

Yale New Haven Children's Hospital is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center equipped and designated to provide the highest level of care possible to children and adolescents who have experienced severe and life-threatening injuries. Trauma services are performed by a dedicated trauma team, available 24/7.

Life-threatening stroke and heart attack, broken bones, cuts and sprains, are among a wide range of conditions addressed each day by emergency specialists at Greenwich Hospital, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital and Westerly Hospital.
