Newsweek has ranked the Yale New Haven Hospital Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (IRU) a top Physical Rehabilitation Center. The IRU, located at the Milford Campus of Bridgeport Hospital, was ranked eighth in the Northeast.

Inpatient physical rehabilitation facilities treat patients recuperating from the most severe illnesses or injuries.

“By providing intensive, coordinated therapy in a supportive hospital setting, inpatient rehabilitation helps patients achieve better outcomes and return home safely, and reduces the risk of complications or readmission,” said Necolle Morgado-Vega, DO, IRU medical director and associate professor of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, Yale School of Medicine. “It’s not just about recovery, it’s about restoring quality of life by helping patients regain strength, independence and confidence.”

Newsweek recognized 320 of the more than 1,000 inpatient physical rehabilitation centers nationwide based on a survey of experts, quality metrics and accreditation data.
