With Joint Commission visit possible any time, senior leadership rounds for readiness

Bridgeport Hospital senior leaders are rounding with staff
Bridgeport Hospital senior leaders are rounding with staff to help prepare for an upcoming Joint Commission survey.

Bridgeport Hospital is currently in its window for a Joint Commission survey. Ahead of the visit, senior leaders are making the rounds to ensure employees are prepared. Mary Christoffersen, RN, DNP, chief nursing officer; Victor Morris, MD, chief medical officer; Chandra Cooper, PharmD, associate director of Pharmacy; and Eileen Landry, RN, regulatory specialist, met with West Tower 9 staff to review the new Joint Commission framework, “Accreditation 360.”

Under the new framework, surveyors will conduct more interviews, including those with staff and patients. The survey scope will expand to include more ambulatory and outpatient sites. Landry told West Tower 9 staff to expect surveyors to review clinical documentation for patients and adherence to the hospital’s policies and procedures. She also asked staff to be ready for one-on-one interviews with surveyors.

To prepare for the survey, all hospital staff should visit the Accreditation and Regulatory Affairs page on the intranet and review department-specific tools for the survey process.
