Hospital recognized for supporting organ and tissue donation

L+M nurses
L+M nurses gathered recently with a New England Donor Services representative to receive an honor for the hospital’s advocacy and engagement in promoting organ and tissue donation throughout 2025.

New England Donor Services (NEDS) recently honored L+M Hospital for exceptional advocacy, engagement and dedication to promoting organ and tissue donation throughout 2025.

NEDS’ Hospital Recognition Awards Program celebrates hospital teams that go above and beyond in supporting donation awareness and strengthening the shared mission to save and heal lives through transplantation. L+M was recognized for its leadership in community outreach, staff engagement and efforts to honor the legacy of donors and donor families.

In 2025, the hospital coordinated multiple organ and tissue donation awareness activities, supporting donor families and promoting the importance of lifesaving and life-enhancing gifts. In the past year, L+M had one organ donor and 16 tissue donors. The donations are recognized through “Honor Walks,” an annual Donate Life flag raising in April and other informational activities and community education.

“This award reflects the extraordinary dedication of our clinicians, staff, and partners who work every day to support the gift of life,” said Oliver Mayorga, MD, L+M chief medical officer. “We are proud to stand with New England Donor Services in honoring donors and their families, and in raising awareness of the profound impact organ and tissue donation has on our communities.”
