Emily Meyers, RN, assistant nurse manager, West Tower 7 (WT7), earned the Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence (PEACE) for going above and beyond in supporting a patient recently diagnosed with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), a rare blood disorder. The patient was prescribed daily Cablivi injections, a complex and newer therapy with significant logistical challenges. Because no retail pharmacy carries the drug, it can be hard to get quickly, which may delay discharge. Meyers worked closely with the inpatient and outpatient Pharmacy teams to get the medication in a timely fashion, preventing interruption in treatment and ensuring a great transition home.
