Yale New Haven Hospital

Newsweek names YNHH among World’s Best Hospitals

Capacity Champ Cup

Newsweek and Statista have recognized Yale New Haven Hospital as one of the World’s Best Hospitals for 2026, ranking number 173 globally.

This prestigious honor reflects international evaluations of quality measures, patient satisfaction and recommendations from medical professionals. It highlights the strength of YNHH’s clinical programs and caregivers’ expertise and its status as a destination for complex, compassionate care.

“Our ranking among the world’s best hospitals is an affirmation of the exceptional dedication our teams bring to patients every day,” said Katherine Heilpern, MD, YNHH president. “This recognition reflects not only our clinical excellence but our relentless commitment to safety, innovation, and the patient experience.”

In addition to its Newsweek ranking, YNHH has celebrated other major achievements this year:

  • Four consecutive Magnet designations from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
  • Top five national ranking by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation for YNHH’s Structural Heart and Interventional Cardiology programs, part of the Heart and Vascular Center.
  • The Infection Prevention Award, for U.S. hospitals performing above the nationwide level based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention infection measures and Leapfrog hand hygiene criteria.
  • The 2026 STAND Award, which will enhance the hospital’s capacity to care for patients with high-consequence infectious diseases.
  • Two Beacon Awards of Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN).

More than 2,500 hospitals were assessed worldwide for the Newsweek and Statista World’s Best Hospitals 2026 ranking, with special recognition given to the top 250 institutions.
