In December 2025, the Women’s Care Center (WCC) at Bridgeport Hospital hit a milestone – 3,000 days without a catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI). That’s more than eight years being CAUTI-free! The milestone highlights the unit’s ability to translate best practices into everyday actions with catheter necessity reviews, rigorous maintenance practices, consistent staff education and open communication across disciplines. It also demonstrates how teamwork and accountability directly improve outcomes.
“Reaching 3,000 days CAUTI‑free is an extraordinary milestone and a true testament to the dedication, skill and vigilance of our entire care team,” said Theresa Davis, RN, WCC nurse manager. “This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to evidence‑based best practices, patient safety and the highest standard of care.”
