The Yale New Haven Health Heart and Vascular Center unveiled a new state-of-the-art Electrophysiology (EP) Lab at Bridgeport Hospital to diagnose and treat complex heart rhythm disorders.
Every year, millions of Americans experience arrhythmias – irregular heartbeats that can lead to stroke, heart failure or sudden cardiac death if left untreated. The new EP Lab provides the advanced tools needed to pinpoint the source of these rhythm disturbances, helping physicians identify exactly where irregular rhythms originate and how best to treat them through cardiac mapping, catheter ablation, pacemaker or defibrillator implantation and other treatments.
“This level of accuracy and speed in diagnoses isn’t just an advancement in technology, it’s an advancement in patient safety, outcomes and quality of life,” said Samuel Hahn, MD, section chief of Cardiology at Bridgeport Hospital and associate professor of Internal Medicine, Yale School of Medicine (YSM). “This lab gives our patients access to the kind of lifesaving heart care they deserve, close to home.”
“We want to ensure that every patient has access to the highest quality of cardiac care by providing cutting-edge technology for our talented cardiologists,” said Anne Diamond, DBA, JD, Bridgeport Hospital president. “This investment reflects our commitment to meet our patients where they are, where they live and deliver exceptional care across our communities.”
