Flu vaccination deadline quickly approaching

Malynda Boyle, RN, recently administered the flu vaccine to fellow nurse Samantha Mensah, RN, at one of Yale New Haven Hospital’s onsite flu vaccination clinics. The deadline for vaccination is Dec. 1.

The Yale New Haven Health annual flu vaccination program ends Dec. 1. As a condition of continued employment, all employees and physicians, including those working hybrid or remote schedules, must comply with the YNHHS mandatory flu vaccine policy.

Employees at Lawrence + Memorial and Westerly hospitals and staff at Health at Home – Southeast must receive a flu vaccination or complete a declination form.

If eligible, employees may apply for a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are fully remote may request an annual conditional deferment for flu vaccination.

Onsite flu vaccinations are currently available by appointment at locations throughout the health system. To schedule an appointment:

  • Log into Infor
  • Select YNHHS Employee in the upper left
  • Under Employee Information, select Employee Health
  • Click Get Your Flu Vaccine to schedule your onsite flu vaccination

Volunteers, students, travelers, vendors and non-employed licensed independent practitioners may schedule an appointment through ynhhs.org/GetVaccinated, or by visiting https://fluvaccination.ynhh.org/.

Employees may also get vaccinated by their primary care physician, at a YNHHS outpatient pharmacy or at a participating retail pharmacy in either the CVS Caremark vaccination network or a CVS Minute Clinic.

Additional details about vaccination options, including how to submit documentation of vaccination by a primary care provider or participating pharmacy, along with declination forms, are available on Infor; Employee Health; Flu Validation/Exemption.

Proof of vaccine (if received outside of the YNHHS onsite flu vaccination fairs), exemption requests, conditional deferments, and declination requests must be submitted no later than Dec. 1, 2025.

Also, all employees must complete the online flu module on the Infor Learning Management System (LMS) by Dec. 1. This includes employees who have declined the vaccination and those who work remotely. Questions? Email [email protected].

Walk-in fit testing available at select flu vaccination fairs

Respiratory fit testing is available on a walk-in basis, no appointment needed, at select onsite flu vaccination fairs through the end of November. See the intranet for a list of fairs offering walk-in fit testing.

Annual fit testing is required for all healthcare workers who are patient-facing and anyone whose job position code requires fit testing. Fit testing can take up to 15 minutes per employee.

Fit testing is also available Monday - Friday by appointment, which can be scheduled at http://respfittest.ynhh.org. The fit-testing location will be provided upon appointment confirmation.

Employees must be clean-shaven per respirator protection policy. Any employee with facial hair may be denied fit testing, as hair can prevent a correct seal.

For additional information or to cancel a scheduled appointment, email [email protected].
