Yale New Haven Health recently launched an Epic upgrade that features smarter tools and smoother workflows, including:
- Enhanced Notes tab in Ambulatory Settings: Epic users can now create multiple types of notes – including progress and procedure notes – from the Notes tab without switching between different sections.
- Enhanced inpatient consults: Real-time push notifications instantly alert consultant teams when new orders are placed. Improved note-writing and patient list workflows allow users to more efficiently and clearly prioritize tasks and manage patient care.
- Redesigned sign-in window: Allows clinicians to update treatment teams and sign in to several roles or shifts at once.
- Efficiency tips library: The Training Library activity on a user’s mobile device provides brief videos.

- Type “What’s New” into the search bar for resources customized to each user’s workflow. The “What’s New” announcement will appear for all Epic users about two weeks before each upgrade.
- The Epic upgrade page includes comprehensive documentation, training presentations, tip sheets and details about upcoming webinars.
- Learning Home Dashboard: Access essential resources directly by choosing the Tip Sheet option from the Hyperspace toolbar.
