YNHHS exploring options after Tenet decision

In the wake of Tenet Healthcare’s decision to withdraw its applications to purchase five Connecticut hospitals, Yale New Haven Health System is exploring other ways to expand people’s access to quality care throughout the state. The original Tenet plan called for YNHHS to support delivery of clinical services in Waterbury, Saint Mary’s, Bristol, Manchester Memorial and Rockville General hospitals, but Tenet withdrew its applications to purchase the hospitals last month, citing strict controls the state had set over staffing, services and pricing. The Office of Healthcare Access imposed 47 conditions which would have made it impossible for Tenet – or any business – to successfully manage operations. YNHHS leaders continue to discuss potential partnerships with hospitals, physicians, ambulatory centers and additional providers.
