The Heart and Vascular Center offers treatment options if you or a loved one has heart valve disease. Among our advanced valve procedures are mitral valve repair with robotic surgery and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) for aortic valve stenosis.
Yale New Haven Hospital is the only hospital in New England to provide robotic-assisted mitral valve repair, a procedure performed with the da Vinci Xi® robotic surgical system. Benefits of this procedure for complex mitral valve disease include smaller incisions, less pain, shorter hospital stay, and quicker recovery. The minimally invasive TAVR procedure replaces the valve without open-heart surgery. This means less time in the hospital and a faster recovery.
