New Radiology suite includes advanced technology

Cutting the ribbon for a new Radiology and Biomedical Imaging suite

Yale New Haven Hospital recently celebrated the opening of its new Radiology and Biomedical Imaging (RBI) suite at the Saint Raphael Campus, adjacent to the Emergency Department.

The suite includes a Shimadzu Intelli-C™ radiology fluoroscopy system, only the second in Connecticut. The system features an advanced C-arm that can execute a wide range of procedures, from radiographic and fluoroscopic exams to interventional and image-guided gastrointestinal studies. Its optimized image quality, sophisticated software and ergonomic design contribute to its versatility, said David Facchini, director, Diagnostic Radiology.

The Intelli-C and an entire new fleet of advanced imaging equipment will eventually be installed in the Adams Neurosciences Center. Two CT scanners and two X-ray machines will stay in the RBI ED suite, which also has two ultrasound rooms.

The suite is part of a larger project at the existing SRC that includes expansion and renovation of the Emergency Department and the Ambulatory Building second floor, which will house Heart and Vascular Center and other clinical programs. Work is expected to be fully complete in 2028.
