Emergency departments at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital (YNHCH), Lawrence + Memorial Hospital and Pequot Health Center have each received the 2025 Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Lantern Award.
The award recognizes accomplishments in incorporating evidence-based practice and innovation into emergency care and a commitment to quality, safety and a healthy work environment.
“We are extremely honored to see the great work of YNHCH’s department of Emergency Medicine recognized with this prestigious national award,” said Beth Heinz, senior vice president, Women’s and Children’s Services, Yale New Haven Hospital. “This further emphasizes why Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital is a national leader in pediatric care with campuses throughout Connecticut.”
The EDs were selected for outstanding performance in leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research. The award reflects ongoing efforts to create a supportive and resilient environment for staff while delivering the highest standard of care to patients and families.
“This prestigious recognition encourages emergency departments to highlight their commitment not only to exceptional patient care but also to the well-being of their nursing staff,” said Shannon Christian, RN, chief nursing officer, L+M. “It stands as a visible symbol of our dedication to quality, safety and fostering a healthy work environment.”
This is the first time L+M and Pequot have been selected for the award, which was presented to 96 hospitals nationwide. Bridgeport Hospital received the Lantern Award in 2024.
