Theresa Thomas, business associate, Northwest 9, earned Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence (PEACE) recognition for providing support and compassion to a family during the final days of a loved one’s life. Family members praised Thomas for making an overwhelming situation feel more manageable and thanked her for going above and beyond for their family.
Patricia Corley, patient financial access specialist, Primary Care Call Center, was honored after taking a call from a patient with high blood pressure who wasn’t feeling well. Corley listened to the patient’s concerns and took clear notes for the clinical team. A call was made to 911 and the patient was brought to the Emergency Department.
The team on Verdi 5 East at the Saint Raphael Campus received Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence (PEACE) recognition for creating a unit culture that prioritizes each patient’s unique needs, values and preferences. Recently the unit has cared for several long-term patients with complex needs. The staff worked collaboratively to meet the patients’ emotional needs and lift their spirits, with special meals, sports activities, music, dancing, daily walks and other efforts.
