Abygail Hagley, RN, Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), was nominated by a nursing student, who wrote that Hagley’s dedication, compassion and advocacy for patients was truly inspiring. The student gave many examples of Hagley going above and beyond for her patients, saying, “Her passion for nursing is evident in every interaction, and she has been a role model to me and an inspiration for the kind of nurse I aspire to become.”
Tiffany Monteiro, RN, SICU, was nominated by a patient’s family for the care she provided their grandmother. The family said Monteiro showed genuine interest in getting to know their grandmother and always clarified clinical terms so the family could understand how their grandmother would be cared for.
“At all times during our stay at Bridgeport Hospital, we only experienced the greatest dignity and respect our Nana deserves,” wrote the nominator.
John Cooper, RN, 3 East, Bridgeport Hospital Milford Campus, won the DAISY Award for his exceptional dedication to both patients and the nursing team. His nominator said Cooper consistently works to boost team morale, providing snacks, decorating the unit each season in accordance with hospital policies and distributing season-themed badge reels.
“Even after long, challenging night shifts, John maintains a warm smile and upbeat attitude, inspiring those around him,” his nominator wrote. “He frequently adjusts his schedule to meet unit needs without hesitation, exemplifying selflessness and teamwork. Most importantly, he keeps patients entertained and comforted during their hospital stay, helping to brighten their experience in difficult times.”
