Employee feedback makes a difference. All employees are encouraged to participate in the 2025 Employee Engagement and Culture of Safety Survey, which runs Monday, Sept. 8 through Sunday, Sept. 21.
The survey covers several areas, including communication, employee well-being, accountability and action-taking. This year’s survey also addresses the health system’s culture of safety, with questions about employee and patient safety.
Leaders use survey feedback to help shape an experience that empowers and supports every employee. Survey responses will help leaders assess progress from last year’s survey and the effectiveness of action plans implemented at the department, delivery network and system levels.
As the end of the fiscal year approaches, it is important to be mindful of the changes made and initiatives implemented in response to feedback from past engagement surveys. For instance, many employees said they wanted to learn more about benefits, so Human Resources launched monthly benefits webinars covering topics such as childcare options, retirement benefits, voluntary benefits, flexible spending accounts and more. Employee input also inspired the launch of the new HRConnect in Infor, making human resources information easier to access.
Employees also requested expanded access to food options, particularly during night and weekend shifts. In response, Micro Markets, offering food and beverages 24/7, have been installed at several campuses.
In the area of safety, YNHHS made significant capital investments in items such as surveillance cameras and facility lockdown equipment; began installing weapons detection equipment at our hospitals; and implemented a plan removing last names from ID badges for employees in designated high-risk areas. In the area of employee recognition, YNHHS expanded its ThinkThanks program to share Raves in the employee newsletter and on social media platforms.
These initiatives and more were the result of employees sharing suggestions on ways to create a more rewarding experience.
Again this year, YNHHS’ independent survey vendor, Glint, Inc., will administer the survey, compile confidential responses and provide results in aggregate.
On Sept. 8, every employee with a health system email address will receive an email from Glint with a unique survey link, which connects employee responses to the correct organization. Employees may also take the survey through a generic link on the employee intranet by entering a private password.
The survey link will also be available on YNHHS mobile devices via Secure Chat (Secure Chat replaces Mobile Heartbeat on Sept. 9), providing a convenient option for those who may not be able to access a computer at work.
Employees who prefer to complete the survey at home will be able to access it on any computer, tablet or smartphone with internet access.
The more employees who participate, the stronger the quality of the results. Plus, survey participation is a Performance Incentive Program (PIP) measure in many YNHHS organizations, so completing the survey will help your organization reach its PIP goal.
