scholarships

Arnold Ramjattan and Tracey Demilo (second and third from left) received Frances Grindell scholarships at a recent event honoring YNHH caregivers. Congratulating them were (l-r): Cheryl Kaszeta, RN, patient service manager, SP 6-4; Beth Ann Grindell Spargo and Mark Grindell; and Kevin Sigovitch, RN, patient service manager, SRC ED.

At a Nov. 6 event to honor Yale New Haven Hospital caregivers, Jovita Thomas- Williams, vice president, Human Resources, called them “heroes and she-roes” who view their roles not as jobs, but as a calling.

More than 200 people gathered in the 55 Park St. auditorium to recognize patient care associates, clinical technicians, emergency department technical associates and technicians, medical assistants, technical associates, milieu counselors, mental health workers, radiology care assistants and urology technicians.

The hospital also honored 83 caregivers for advancing on the clinical ladder and presented Tracey Demilo, ED technical associate, Saint Raphael Campus, and Arnold Ramjattan, PCA, Trauma Surgery Stepdown (SP 6-4), with the Frances Grindell Patient Care Associate, Clinical Technician and Emergency Department Technical Associate Scholarships. The scholarships, given annually to employees pursuing nursing degrees, honor the memory of a nurse who educated and oriented many patient care associates during her 44 years at YNHH.
