Susan Haufe, Paula Crombie, LCSW

Susan Haufe has been named the inaugural chief experience officer, Yale New Haven Health System, after serving for over two years as executive director of Patient Experience at Yale New Haven Hospital. In her new role, Haufe will continue to work with Michael Bennick, MD, chairman, Patient Experience Council, YNHHS, and leaders at all health system delivery networks to implement a signature patient experience, including standards of professional behavior, standardized metrics and management of patient relations and other components. She earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Texas Christian University and her master’s in health administration from the University of Washington.

Paula Crombie, LCSW, director, Social Work and Support Services, recently received the 2017 Joan Upshaw Award from the national Society For Social Work Leadership In Health Care (SSWLHC). The award honors an individual who identifies and starts new ventures, increasing the efficacy and efficiency of social work interventions; generates new social work services; and advocates for the profession. Crombie is involved in community work to end homelessness and spearheaded the YNHH/ Columbus House Medical Respite Program, which provides a safe, consistent environment in which unstably housed patients may recover from a hospital stay. The Joan Upshaw Award was established to honor the memory of the former SSWLHC leader.
