Walter Camp Day at Yale Bowl Nov. 3 to benefit Toy Closet

Each year, the Walter Camp Football Foundation partners with the Yale New Haven Hospital Auxiliary to host “Walter Camp Day” to support the Auxiliary’s Toy Closet Program. This year’s event will be Friday, Nov. 3, at Yale Bowl, 81 Central Ave., New Haven. Kickoff is at 8 pm. Fans who bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Toy Closet will receive free admission to the Yale Bulldogs - Brown University Bears game. For more information, call the Auxiliary Office, 203-688-5717.

Celebrations for employee veterans Nov. 10

To celebrate National Veterans Awareness Week, YNHH is holding appreciation celebrations Friday, Nov. 10. All YNHH employees who are past or current active, reserve or guard service members are invited. A breakfast will be held 7:30 - 9:30 am in the East Pavilion cafeteria special events area and a lunch, noon - 2 pm in the Saint Raphael Campus cafeteria conference room.

Conference addresses conversations around end-of-life preparations

The YNHHS Advanced Care Planning Work Group invites employees and the public to Care Decisions Connecticut, 11 am - 3 pm Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Quinnipiac University School of Medicine, 370 Bassett Rd., North Haven. The free conference is designed to raise awareness and provide an opportunity for people to discuss their healthcare wishes when facing serious illness. Presenters are Colin McEnroe, an author, professor, columnist and blogger, and the Rev. Rosemary Lloyd, BSN, MDiv, advisor to faith communities for The Conversation Project at the Institute for Health Care Improvement. Call 203-294-7263 to register.

YNHCH Wish Book available

The eighth annual Wish Book, a gift list for Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital patients, is now available and includes items suggested by hospital staff to comfort children and their families. The items in the 2018 book are designed for gift-giving throughout the year, not just the holidays.
