Smilow Screening and Prevention Day June 8

Smilow Cancer Hospital will hold free mammography and dermatology screenings at the Special Olympics Connecticut Summer Games, 10 am - 3 pm Friday, June 8, Southern Connecticut State University, Wintergreen Avenue, New Haven. The event will also feature informational tables on head and neck, colorectal, cervical, lung and prostate cancers.

Pulmonary clinical practice guidelines forum in June

Local pulmonary and pediatric experts will discuss developments in pulmonary care related to shared clinical practice guidelines during a presentation, “Beyond Clinical Practice Guidelines: Caring for the Severe Asthmatic in a New Era.” The dinner presentation will be offered twice for primary care clinicians, pulmonologists and pediatricians: 6 - 8 pm Monday, June 11, Saybrook Point Inn and Spa, Old Saybrook; or June 20 at Il Palio Ristorante, Shelton. Continuing medical education credit will be available. The program is presented by YNHHS Clinical Integration and Population Health in conjunction with Northeast Medical Group, Yale Medicine and Community Medical Group. Kindness Rocks launch June 12

Employees are encouraged to participate in the Kindness Rocks Project at Smilow Cancer Hospital by painting rocks with messages of kindness and encouragement. The rocks are left for patients, caregivers and staff at Smilow. Join the Integrative Medicine team for music and refreshments to celebrate the Kindness Rocks kick off, 9 am - 5 pm Tuesday, June 12, Smilow Healing Garden, NP 7. Rain date is June 13. Career fair June 13

Employees are invited to a career fair, 9:30 am - 2:30 pm Wednesday, June 13, Saint Raphael Campus cafeteria. Employees must present their YNHH badge for admission. “Embracing Uncertainty” workshop June 21

Employees are invited to a free Smilow Wellness Workshop Series presentation, “Embracing Uncertainty: Opening to Infinite Possibilities,” 5:30 pm Thursday, June 21, 55 Park St. auditorium. In this interactive workshop, psychotherapist Mel Schwartz, LCSW, MPhil, will share illuminating principles that allow people to live resilient and self-empowered lives. Outpatient Pharmacy Services accredited

Outpatient Pharmacy Services at Yale New Haven Health has earned full accreditation in Specialty Pharmacy from URAC, an independent, nonprofit healthcare accrediting organization. Accreditation signifies that YNHHS has demonstrated a comprehensive commitment to quality care, improved processes and better patient outcomes. Outpatient Pharmacy Services provides a comprehensive, case-managed program for complex diseases such as cancer, hepatitis C, HIV, multiple sclerosis and others. The specialty pharmacy team works with care providers to create the safest, most effective treatment program for patients; ensure timely refills of specialty medications; and offer education and support from specialty pharmacists.
