YNHHS Corporate Business Services makes financial statements more patient-friendly

Yale New Have Health System’s Corporate Business Services recently launched consolidated statements that combine balances owed for care at YNHHS hospitals and Northeast Medical Group.

In one, combined statement, patients can see their balances for services provided at Bridgeport, Greenwich, L+M, Westerly and Yale New Haven hospitals and NEMG practices. Previously, patients received separate statements from the hospitals and NEMG.

The new statements feature patient-friendly language highlighting multiple payment methods, paperless options and quick access to the online patient portal via smart phone through a Quick Response (QR) scan code.

Other enhancements include:

  • Call centers that can answer billing questions about both hospital and NEMG balances
  • Automated phone service to make payments 24/7 -- The ability to pay both hospital and NEMG balances with a single check or credit card payment. Single payments can also be made online through Quickpay/Guestpay for both hospital and NEMG balances.
  • Greater flexibility to make in-person payments for hospital and NEMG balances at YHHS locations

“We are always looking for ways to improve our patients’ financial experience,” said Sharlene Seidman, YNHHS vice president, Patient Financial Services. “This consolidated statement and other improvements are part of our goal to provide simplicity and transparency, and help our patients however we can.”
