YNHH to hold Donate Life Month events

April is National Donate Life Month, designed to encourage people to learn more about organ donation. Yale New Haven’s Transplantation Center, one of the top centers in the nation, is hosting these events:

  • Thursday, April 5, 8 am - 2 pm: Organ donation awareness table, YSC, East Pavilion cafeteria; noon - 1 pm: Health Resources and Services Administration award ceremony, EP special events area, followed by Donate Life flag-raising, YSC entrance flag pole (weather permitting).  Wednesday, April 11, 11 am - 2 pm: Organ donation awareness table, Saint Raphael Campus cafeteria
  • Friday, April 13: National Donate Life Wear Blue and Green Day for organ donation awareness. Staff photo at 1:30 pm under Tree of Life, WP 9 Transplantation and Liver unit
  • Tuesday, April 17, 7:30 am - 4 pm: Liver Transplant Education Passport Event, YSC, Atrium, second floor. Featuring posters, informational tables, donors, recipients and staff
  • Wednesday, April 18, 6 - 8 pm: Heart and Vascular Center Celebration of Life for patients, families, staff, 55 Park St., auditorium 201 and seminar room 202
  • Thursday, April 19, noon - 2 pm: “I said yes because...” Donors, staff and providers share their stories. 55 Park St., auditorium 201 and seminar room 202
  • Tuesday, April 24, 11 am – 2 pm: Organ donation awareness table, SRC cafeteria
  • Thursday, April 26, 8 am – 2 pm: Organ donation awareness table, YSC, East Pavilion cafeteria
  • Saturday, April 28, 10 am: Blue Green 5K and Walk, 21 Griffin Road, Windsor. Presented by New England Donor Services. Visit this website for more information.
About half of the U.S. adult population is registered as organ donors, but the number of people in need of transplants outpaces the number of donors. To register as an organ donor, visit Donate Life New England. You can also express your wish to become a donor when you receive or renew your driver’s license at the DMV.
