Yale Medical Symphony spring concert April 26

The Yale Medical Symphony will perform its spring concert at 7:30 pm Friday, April 26, in Harkness Auditorium, Yale School of Medicine. Admission is free and open to the public. The orchestra is composed of faculty, students, resident physicians and staff of Yale School of Medicine, as well as members of the Yale New Haven Hospital medical staff. This year’s concert will include Symphony No. 1 in E Major by Suk, Overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Mendelssohn, Land of the Mountain and the Flood by MacCunn and Graceful Ghost Rag by Bolcom.

Defibrillator demos scheduled

Yale New Haven Hospital is evaluating manual defibrillators and AEDs for recommendations to replace devices. Feedback from front-line users will be critical to ensure defibrillators best meet patients’ and staff’s needs. To prepare, staff with CPR training are invited to try out different defibrillator models starting at 6:30 am Tuesday, April 30 and 8 am Wednesday, May 1 in the YSC East Pavilion Cafeteria special events area and SRC Allspice Café entrance. Demos will also be held via rounds in selected departments.

Career fair May 2

Employees are invited to a career fair, 9:30 am - 2 pm Thursday, May 2, York Street Campus East Pavilion Cafeteria special events area. The program is sponsored by the Institute for Excellence and Patient Services Administration. Representatives from local and online colleges will offer information on various fields of study, including RN to BSN, RN to MSN and DNP nursing programs; Yale New Haven Health Pharmacy Tech Training Program; and medical interpreter certification. Utility clinic May 3

Yale New Haven Hospital will offer a free “Keep the Power On” Utility Clinic for customers experiencing problems with their utility bills. Attendees will receive budget counseling, meet with utility company representatives and learn about special utility programs for low-income families. The clinic will be 9 am - 1 pm on Friday, May 3, East Pavilion Cafeteria special events area, York Street Campus. Attendees may come any time during the clinic to receive assistance and should bring proof of income. YNHH named a top 10 not-for-profit organization for executive women

The National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) has named Yale New Haven Hospital to its 2019 list of top 10 not-for-profit companies for executive women. This is the ninth time YNHH has made this list, which recognizes organizations whose policies and practices encourage women’s advancement, and whose numbers at the highest levels of leadership demonstrate that commitment.
