PEACE recognition announced

Charles Gabriele, RN, Home Care Plus Hospice, was honored for compassion and kindness on behalf of a patient and his family. Gabriele worked closely with the family to fulfill a patient’s wish to spend his last days at a beach house. On the day the patient passed away, Gabriele was off duty. When the patient’s family contacted the hospice service, he immediately went to assist them, and brought the family coffee and breakfast as well. The family expressed their gratitude for Gabriele’s dedication.   

Linda Baldwin, RN, Celentano 4 and SLA 5, was honored for compassionate patient-centered care. A patient on Baldwin’s unit who had recently been diagnosed with metastatic cancer was distressed and anxious. Baldwin sat by the patient’s bedside and shared the details of her own cancer journey and treatment plan. The patient appreciated Baldwin’s generosity and compassion in sharing her own personal story, which made the patient feel better about the future.
