On June 15, Northeast Medical Group Community Outreach Committee (COC) members participated in the Annual L+M Summer Stride 5K and 10K road races. The Hartford Marathon event is sponsored by L+M Hospital and encourages health and fitness through exercise. Shorter races for children were also part of the day’s program.
New London region employees registered to run or walk the course, while COC members ran a swag table and provided information on local practices and services. The event also included a canned food drive for community members in need.
“The importance of the event lies in its sense of community,” said Cristin Gill, supervisor, Ambulatory Operations East. “People of all abilities are encouraged to participate, and each participant is supported and cheered on, promoting a healthy lifestyle while recognizing that everyone is on their own fitness journey. Having tables at the event allowed us to connect with members of the community and provide resources for access to medical care.”
