Early voting option provides more flexibility

Early voting, or voting in person before election day, is now available in Connecticut. This offers voters more flexibility and access, ensuring your voice is heard while avoiding potentially long lines and personal scheduling conflicts. This option may be especially helpful for YNHHS employees who begin work early and/or stay late on election day. Early voting for the Nov. 5 general election, which will include the U.S. presidential election, will occur Oct. 21 - Nov. 3. Votes cast during early voting are included in election night totals. Each Connecticut town or city will have at least one early voting location; larger municipalities may have additional locations. Visit your municipality’s website for information on locations. For more information on early voting, absentee ballots and more, visit the Connecticut Secretary of State’s website, www.sots.ct.gov. Early voting is also available in New York Oct. 26 – Nov. 3; and in Rhode Island Oct. 16 – Nov. 4.

October is “Point of Care Competency Month”

To avoid being locked out, all glucometer operators must run levels 1 and 3 QC to automatically extend their access another year. All staff who perform waived POC must complete their annual competency assessments for urine dipstick/hCG, Hemoccult/Gastroccult, Hemocue, Coaguchek, Hgb A1c, pH and rapid Strep A. This is done with the POC trainer on your unit.
