Farm stand continues through October 20

Bridgeport Hospital continues to host its weekly farm stand on Thursdays at 200 Mill Hill Ave., Bridgeport. The farm stand is open from 3:30 to 5:30 pm, through October 20.

The first 25 customers each week receive a $5 voucher for produce. Cash, credit/debit, senior and WIC Farmers Market checks are accepted; SNAP/EBT cards are also accepted and dollars are doubled.

Biweekly community food distribution begins in October

Beginning in October, Bridgeport Hospital will begin hosting a biweekly food distribution at its Bridgeport campus, 200 Mill Hill Ave. The Connecticut Foodshare mobile food pantry will be onsite in the parking lot on Wednesday, Oct. 5, and Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 4:30 to 5:15 pm.

People are asked to bring their own reusable bags and/or carts. Each person will receive one allotment of food, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. This new biweekly distribution schedule will continue throughout 2023.

Free Hernia Screening

Bridgeport Hospital will host a free hernia screening and a da Vinci® surgical robot demonstration on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9 am to 12 pm at 226 Mill Hill Ave., at the SurgEase Ambulatory Surgery Center. Both men and women can experience hernias. Left untreated, hernias may require surgery. Schedule your free screening to meet one-on-one with an expert surgeon and see a demonstration of the da Vinci® robot. To register, call 888-357-2396. Registration is recommended, but walk-ins are also welcome.
