Yale New Haven Health System launched the Sparq Center for Health Innovation last year to encourage and implement new ideas for procedures, techniques and technologies that will advance and improve the quality of care, while managing the total cost of care.
The Sparq Pitch Event was a highlight of the Safety, Quality and Experience Conference. A panel discussion on the importance of innovation in health care included Bradley Crotty, MD, assistant professor of Medicine, Medical College of Wisconsin, and director of Digital Engagement, Inception Health; Lisa Stump, chief information officer, YNHHS and Yale School of Medicine; Rob Unitan, MD, director of Optimization and Innovation, Northwest Permanente, PC; and Chris Loose, PhD, executive director, Yale Center for Biomedical Innovation and Technology, Yale School of Management. The pitch event gave preselected teams the opportunity to share proposals that have the potential to reshape the healthcare experience.
Each of the three winning project teams received a $5,000 stipend to develop their winning ideas. The awards were presented by the Sparq Center co-directors Joseph Bisson, vice president of Business Development, and Steve Allegretto, vice president of Value Innovation and Shared Value Partnerships, YNHHS.
