1889: Grace Hospital was founded in New Haven by a group of homeopaths and eclectics to provide clinical experience and hospital access for physicians outside of the Yale staff. A year later, the group purchased the former Mallory mansion on Chapel Street, and patients were admitted in late 1892.
1896: Grace Hospital established the Grace School of Nursing. In 1945, it was renamed the Grace-New Haven School of Nursing. In 1975 the last and 78th class graduated. The school educated 1,945 graduates before it closed.
