Making every step count: East Region employees walk to end homelessness

Ambulatory East Region staff (and some four-legged friends) participated
Ambulatory East Region staff (and some four-legged friends) participated in the New London Walk to End Homelessness this year.

On April 26, East Region Ambulatory team members participated in the 19th Annual Walk to End Homelessness in New London.

The team raised over $400 for the New London Homeless Hospitality Center (NLHHC), which marked 20 years of serving people across Southeastern Connecticut. In addition to its emergency shelter, the NLHHC connects people with programs and services, promotes job readiness, runs a housing resource center and provides some permanent housing.

“Participating in events such as this reminds us that we can make a difference just by getting out in the community,” said Katie Poitras-Sellari, director, Ambulatory Operations, East Region. “Participation helps these organizations expand access to safety, dignity and stable housing for every person who needs them.”

In addition to the walk, East Region staff provide a monthly meal service and donate clothing and toiletry items to the NLHHC throughout the year.
