These Bridgeport Hospital employees earned Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence (PEACE) recognition for their extraordinary commitment to patient safety, advocacy and compassionate care.
Jessica Taylor, LCSW, REACH Program, was recognized for her response to a former patient’s severe mental health crisis. Two months after discharge, the patient called Taylor, who provided support, remained on the phone while emergency services were contacted and helped ensure the patient received urgent psychiatric care. While Taylor’s swift clinical intervention was critical, she was also recognized for the lasting trust she had built with the patient, who turned to her in a moment of crisis.
Kerry Ann Sterling, RN, and Melissa Pisani, RN, Milford Campus, were caring for a discharged patient awaiting transportation home. Noticing concerning symptoms, the nurses questioned whether discharge was appropriate. Despite recommendations for outpatient follow-up, Sterling and Pisani escalated the matter. The patient was reassessed and transferred to the Bridgeport Hospital Campus.
