Hundreds of nurses from Yale New Haven Health System and Yale School of Nursing participated in the 17th annual Janet Parkosewich Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice Conference April 29 and 30 to share their scholarly work to advance nursing practice and improve patient outcomes.
Nurses gathered in person April 29 to view 38 posters outlining nurses’ research, evidence-based practice and quality improvement projects. Projects covered topics related to care quality and safety, the patient experience, nurse engagement and retention and other areas.
At the poster event, Rachael Silvia, RN, director of Patient Care Services, Westerly Hospital; Emma Kolb, RN, ICU, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital; and Laurie Gattinella, RN, medicine services coordinator, Yale New Haven Hospital, each received the Marita Titler Evidence-Based Practice Award.
The conference continued April 30 with a virtual program that included nurses’ podium presentations on their scholarly work. Ena Williams, RN, PhD, chief nurse executive, Yale New Haven Health; and Tatiana Sadak, RN, PhD, deputy dean and professor, Yale School of Nursing, gave opening remarks.
The keynote speaker was Olga Yakusheva, PhD, an economist and professor of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, an internationally recognized expert on the economic value of nursing and its contribution to patient, societal and organizational outcomes.
