Maternal Wellness Program Overview

Pregnancy can be a time of great excitement, anticipation and joy. It can also be overwhelming as you adjust to your new role, make parenting decisions and feel exhausted. Depression and anxiety are common complications of pregnancy and can occur before or after an individual has given birth.

Yale New Haven Health’s Maternal Wellness Program’s team of licensed clinical social workers work with patients to find relief from symptoms associated with perinatal mental health. We support patients using evidence based perinatal therapy to help them manage and improve their symptoms.

Our Maternal Wellness Program understands the challenges which can arise during pregnancy and postpartum, and the importance of learning to prioritize care for yourself. Our specialized clinicians support patients who may be experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression, intrusive or unwanted thoughts, irritability, or struggling to adjust to motherhood. We also help navigate a NICU journey, traumatic birth, grief and loss, and more. We are committed to helping everyone achieve and maintain their well-being throughout this time.
