Yale New Haven Health CEO Marna P. Borgstrom recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential People by Modern Healthcare

Tuesday, December 8, 2020

New Haven, CT (Dec. 8, 2020) – Marna P. Borgstrom, CEO, Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) and Yale New Haven Hospital, has been recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the country’s 100 Most Influential People for navigating Connecticut’s largest health system through the pandemic and forming a health system response team for the region.

This prestigious recognition acknowledges and honors individuals who are deemed by their peers and the senior editors of Modern Healthcare to be the most influential individuals in the industry, in terms of leadership and impact.

“I’m honored to be named to such a distinguished list of people driving healthcare transformation, especially given the unprecedented challenges we’ve faced in 2020,” said Borgstrom. “This year, I had the unique vantage point to witness competition giving way to collaboration and innovations in care within and beyond our hospitals’ walls. I am privileged to lead an organization of more than 28,000 people dedicated to enhancing the health of the communities we serve.”

Borgstrom, who has been with YNHHS since the beginning of her professional career and chief executive officer since 2005, guided a hard-hit portion of Connecticut through COVID-19, and has been hosting weekly Town Halls throughout the pandemic.

With Borgstrom’s leadership, the Health System credentialed nearly 800 new medical associates to support staff in caring for COVID-19 patients, discharged nearly 5,700 COVID-19 patients and partnered with Yale Center for Clinical Investigation on Phase 3 of the first COVID-19 vaccine candidate submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Emergency Use Authorization.

Borgstrom ranks 49 on the latest list that includes the nation’s most prominent healthcare CEOs, elected officials and government administrators. Modern Healthcare cited Borgstrom’s key role in helping state officials on everything from allocation of technology and personnel to supply chain issues.

Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS), the largest and most comprehensive healthcare system in Connecticut, is recognized for advanced clinical care, quality, service, cost effectiveness and commitment to improving the health status of the communities it serves. YNHHS includes five hospitals – Bridgeport, Greenwich, Lawrence + Memorial, Westerly and Yale New Haven hospitals, several specialty networks and Northeast Medical Group, a non-profit medical foundation with several hundred community-based and hospital-employed physicians. YNHHS is affiliated with Yale University and Yale Medicine, the clinical practice of the Yale School of Medicine and the largest academic multi-specialty practice in New England. Yale New Haven Hospital is the primary teaching hospital of Yale School of Medicine. www.ynhhs.org
