What to Keep in a First Aid Kit

first aid

Prepare for emergencies ahead of time by putting together a first aid kit for your home. While there are plenty of kits available at major retailers, chances are you already have the basics on hand. Make sure all of your supplies are together in an easily accessible spot of your home and regularly check your kit to make sure medications and other key supplies are up to date. A first aid kit should include:

  • Band aids
  • Rolled gauze and tape
  • Cold packs
  • Cotton balls
  • Small tweezers
  • Small scissors
  • Thermometer
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Cough and cold medications
  • Pain relievers
  • Aspirin
  • Epi-pen (if needed)
  • Emergency numbers
  • Medical consent forms
  • Medical history forms

In addition to the items listed above, think about what you need for you and your family. If someone needs a regular supply of medication for conditions such as diabetes, consider those needs when building your kit. Don’t forget about other frequently used spaces! A kit for your car or workspace is important too.
