Bridgeport Hospital welcomed new and expecting parents to its Community Baby Shower on Saturday, October 10, bringing together healthcare experts, community partners and local resources to help families prepare for childbirth and life with a newborn. The event connected families with maternity and pediatric specialists, offered educational sessions on childbirth and infant care and provided valuable resources and giveaways, including two truckloads of diapers from The Connecticut Diaper Bank.
Parents also had the opportunity to learn about proper car seat installation and infant safety from Bridgeport Hospital's Injury Prevention team, while representatives from Yale New Haven Children's Hospital and community organizations shared information about services and support available to families throughout their parenting journey.
"It truly takes a village to support families as they welcome a new baby," said Theresa Davis, RN, nurse manager of the Women's Care Center at Bridgeport Hospital. "This event brings many people together for one mission: to make sure parents feel informed, supported and connected to the resources they need. We're grateful to everyone who helped make the day so special for the families we serve."
In addition to educational resources on childbirth, pediatric care and postpartum support, the event featured community vendors and family-focused organizations that provided information on services available long after families leave the hospital. The Community Baby Shower reflects Bridgeport Hospital's ongoing commitment to supporting healthy beginnings for parents and babies across the region.
