Yale New Haven Health sponsors programs and services that improve the health of people in our communities and increase access to care. These activities are critical to our communities and our mission.

Bridgeport Hospital

Sponsorships and support provided to community and economic development organizations in greater Bridgeport
- Annual toy drive to benefit the East End Food Bank
- Other donation drives to benefit community organizations, as needed
- Encourage employees to volunteer in the community and serve on not-for-profit community boards by providing opportunities to volunteer and responding to community boards’ requests for specific expertise

Bridgeport Hospital Milford Campus

Milford Community Forum
- Panelists covered safety protocols at businesses and organizations in town, support services available for residents, and how to access COVID-19 testing and other resources.
Milford Community Farm Stand
- The stand offers fresh fruits and vegetables. It is open to residents, staff, and patients. The farm stand is open July and operates through October.

Greenwich Hospital

Sponsorships and support provided to community and economic development organizations in the Greenwich region
Donation drives, coordinated with other hospital departments, to benefit community organizations
Encourage employees to volunteer in the community and serve on not-for-profit community boards and respond to community boards’ requests for specific expertise

Lawrence + Memorial Hospital

FRESH New London Start-up Community Farmers Market
- The purpose of this initiative was to build a culturally vibrant market and community gathering place that provides relief to food insecure families.

Yale New Haven Hospital

CitySeed Farmer’s Markets
- Support the mobile farmer’s markets in New Haven and the SNAP benefit-doubling program.
Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen (DESK)
- Supported acquisition of new space to act as homeless drop-in center.
- Provide hot meals through partnership with the Rock & Wrap program.
Read Across America
- Partnership with United Way of Greater New Haven to read to every classroom at the Barack H. Obama University Magnet School.
P.A.L. Camp
- New Haven Police Athletic League (P.A.L.) summer camp partners with Yale New Haven Hospital to “take over” camp for two days, providing enriching experiences to the youth, including “a day in the life at Yale New Haven” and other fun activities.
