Advancing careers in healthcare

Our hospitals contribute to a variety of healthcare education programs that train individuals to become medical professionals, from physicians and nurses to pharmacists, dieticians, phlebotomists and medical assistants. In addition to providing medical residency and fellowship programs, our hospitals offer a clinical setting for undergraduate training to students enrolled in various allied health fields.

Bridgeport Hospital

  • Yale New Haven Health Emergency and Scholarship Fund for Allied Health Students at Housatonic Community College
    • Awarded annually to students to assist with financial stability
  • Bridgeport Harding High School Health Careers Academy Partnership
    • Provide annual support of HOSA - Future Health Professionals (formerly Health Occupations Students of America) membership and state competition fees. Participate annually in the health and wellness fair and provide classroom speakers
  • Bridgeport Central High School Partnership
    • Annually, educate students in first aid, CPR, AEDs, and Stop the Bleed by the Yale New Haven Hospital Center for EMS
  • Bridgeport Hall Elementary School Partnership
    • Conduct annual school supply drive, participate in an annual Read Aloud Day including donating books, and organize other classroom projects with employee volunteers

Yale New Haven Hospital

  • YNHH Pharmacy Technician Training Program
    • Trains qualified applicants to become pharmacy technicians, proficient in all areas of health system pharmacy services as an integral part of the YNHH healthcare team
  • Gateway Community College Nursing Program
    • Established the nursing suite and provide clinical training rotations within the Yale New Haven Health System
    • Maintain Yale New Haven Hospital scholarship for Allied Health and ASN student
  • ConnCAT (Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology)
    • Provide curriculum and clinical training opportunities for the phlebotomy and medical assistant training programs
