Community Benefits

Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) member hospitals continue to enhance access to healthcare services for their communities and support other community initiatives including health screenings, support groups, community education sessions, community leadership activities, financial grants and assistance to maintain and improve the health of each hospital’s local community. During 2022, YNHHS member hospitals managed $849.6 million in financial and in-kind contributions through five wide-ranging programs: Guaranteeing Access to Care; Advancing Careers in Health Care; Promoting Health & Wellness; Building Stronger Neighborhoods; and Creating Healthier Communities.

Connecticut’s leading healthcare system, consisting of Bridgeport, Greenwich, Lawrence + Memorial, Yale New Haven and Westerly hospitals, and Northeast Medical Group, a physician foundation of primary care and medical specialists. It’s this distinction that makes us different. Today’s health care opens to a world of possibilities. Our vision is to bring all that health care offers to our communities, building a brighter, healthier future for everyone. Every year, we promote health and wellness through an array of community-based programs and services. It’s part of our mission to create healthier communities – because we’re part of the community too.

In 2022, we provided $849.6 million in financial and in-kind contributions. The dollars represent an investment in our local communities. More importantly, these tremendous activities impacted the lives of 1,145,426 people. But just how many is 1,145,426? That many people, standing shoulder to shoulder, would extend 330 miles from Boston to Philadelphia.
