Supply Chain Management & Strategic Sourcing

Commitment to Improving Patient Outcomes and Supporting Efficient, Innovative Operations

Supply Chain Management at the Yale New Haven Health System is committed to contributing to improved patient outcomes by exceeding the expectations of our clinicians and leadership by providing relevant supply chain knowledge in the selection, procurement, movement and use of supplies, services and equipment. We aim to deliver high-quality supplies, services and equipment for the best value. We foster trusted relationships and collaboration within our supply chain team and among our internal partners, supply partners and other healthcare organizations. We accelerate the effective and efficient use of resources by leveraging changes in clinical and business processes and adopting new supportive technology.

Commitment to Supplier Diversity

As an Anchor Institution, the Yale New Haven Health System is committed to purchasing from local and diverse vendors that provide value and high quality goods and services. We know that strengthening this select business community makes good business sense and contributes to the overall economic growth and expansion of our community. Specifically, we aim to increase spending with certified Minority, Women, Veteran and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (MBEs) and with local businesses across our service areas. The Yale New Haven Health System has a geographic focus from Westchester County, NY, across Connecticut to Washington County, RI.

Environmentally Preferred Purchasing

Protection of the Earth’s environment is essential for healthy communities. The Yale New Haven Health System is committed to avoiding harm to human and environmental health, and to improving environmental quality.

Toward that end, the Yale New Haven Health System has identified Environmental Stewardship as one of the tenets of its definition of Corporate Citizenship. The purpose of Environmental Stewardship is to minimize waste, prevent pollution, conserve natural resources, reduce costs, and model environmental protection practices within the health care industry.

Specifically, environmentally preferable products and services are those that:

  • Reduce waste, such as through the reduction of material use, reusable or recyclable products and packaging; recycled-content, remanufactured, or more durable products and packaging; reduced use of disposables, or other methods.
  • Reduce energy use or utilize sustainable or renewable energy.
  • Reduce water use or reduce the creation of contaminated or polluted wastewater.

When selecting among products, the Yale New Haven Health System will prefer products that address our environmental priorities listed above in addition to meeting our performance and cost goals. EPP principles may not be the sole factor in determining product selection but will be weighed with other quality, service, and total cost components.

Doing Business with Us

Prospective Vendors

All prospective suppliers and service providers should register in two systems:

Registration gives Yale New Haven Health System decision makers access to your company’s information when conducting supplier searches. Be sure to update your registration annually. Registration in the supplier portal does not guarantee a business opportunity, place your company on an approved vendor list, or obligate Yale New Haven Health System or its affiliates to solicit requests for bids, quotations or proposals, but it opens the door to future opportunities.

When registering, you’ll be asked to provide:

  1. Your company’s basic business information.
  2. Any diversity certification code for your business, including certification documents to validate your diverse ownership (see more details below).
  3. A copy of your W9 for new vendors who have not worked with the Yale New Haven Health System before.
  4. Proxy notifications: (name, email for notifications).

Once you have submitted a complete registration, you will receive an email confirmation that we have received your submission.

  • The SupplierGATEWAY Portal. SupplierGATEWAY is our partner to help us find potential vendors and to help us communicate our buying needs. By signing up, you will get access to not only Yale New Haven Health System but also to the entire SupplierGATEWAY network of over one million companies.

When registering, you’ll be asked to provide this information:

  1. Your company’s basic business information.
  2. Federal tax ID number.
  3. Owner’s social security number.

Capability Overview

To help us understand what exact products and/or services your company can provide, it is helpful for us to have you fill out a capability overview. This is not required, but it gives us an easy way to learn more about your company and its products and services and allows you to differentiate yourself from other companies. You can fill out the overview here at this link

Diversity Vendor Certification

Certification is the verification of ownership status for companies that declare they are minority, women, veteran, disabled, or LBGTQ+ owned. Please file your certification here.
