John Fomeche, MD

John Fomeche, MD, a board-certified internal medicine physician, enjoys getting to know each patient over time and becoming a trusted partner in their health. Dr. Fomeche believes good care begins with listening, understanding what matters most to each patient and working together to create practical and sustainable treatment plans. He is especially passionate about preventive care, chronic disease management, addiction medicine and reducing the stigma that can sometimes prevent patients from seeking help. During his fellowship, his training included the evaluation and treatment of substance use disorders, including alcohol, opioid, and tobacco use disorders.

Dr. Fomeche earned his medical degree from the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Kraków, Poland. He completed his residency at Stamford Hospital and his fellowship in addiction medicine at the Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Fomeche completed the Rich Saitz Addiction Medicine Editorial Internship through the American College of Academic Addiction Medicine (ACAAM), a prestigious, highly selective mentorship program for addiction medicine fellows focused on academic publishing and critical literature appraisal. Dr. Fomeche has also published commentary on trust, communication, and public health in STAT News and the Yale Daily News. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and exploring the outdoors. Dr. Fomeche is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). He is fluent in English, conversational in French and has basic proficiency in Polish.
