Debra H. Schussheim, MD

Dr. Debra Schussheim has dual board certification in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism as well as Obesity Medicine. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and received her medical degree with honors from Yale School of Medicine. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City followed by an Endocrinology Fellowship at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. Following a year as a senior research fellow in Endocrinology at the National Institutes of Health, she returned to Columbia University Medical Center to join the faculty in the Metabolic Bone Unit, Endocrine Division.She has written book chapters, served as an editorial fellow at The Medical Letter and published her research in the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, among other scientific journals.Most of all, Dr. Schussheim enjoys being a clinical physician and has had an active medical practice in Fairfield County for more than 15 years. She has been recognized as one of Castle Connelly’s “Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area” and earned the “Top Doctor List” designation from Connecticut Magazine for many years starting in 2010.
