World Environment Day is June 5, 2026, and the YNHHS Center for Sustainable Healthcare will launch a campaign that day to gather employee ideas on waste-reduction initiatives. Nishara Fernando, sustainability analyst, explains that employee input is important to the Center’s strategic planning to improve sustainability across the health system. Information gleaned from survey responses can lead to actionable initiatives and also will move YNHHS closer to achieving The Joint Commission Sustainable Healthcare Certification in 2026.
Employees are encouraged to take the survey online. Survey participants need to be within the YNHHS network to access and complete the survey form. Learn more about this year’s World Environment Day and its focus on climate change.
