Survey opportunity: Share your ideas on sustainability and waste reduction

World Environment Day is June 5, 2026, and the YNHHS Center for Sustainable Healthcare will launch a campaign that day to gather employee ideas on waste-reduction initiatives. Nishara Fernando, sustainability analyst, explains that employee input is important to the Center’s strategic planning to improve sustainability across the health system. Information gleaned from survey responses can lead to actionable initiatives and also will move YNHHS closer to achieving The Joint Commission Sustainable Healthcare Certification in 2026.

Employees are encouraged to take the survey online. Survey participants need to be within the YNHHS network to access and complete the survey form. Learn more about this year’s World Environment Day and its focus on climate change.

YNHHS launches enhanced nurse Preceptor Training Initiative

Yale New Haven Health has enhanced its nurse preceptor training to include new courses and expanded resources for new and experienced preceptors. The enhancements, launched May 1, are designed to ensure consistency among preceptors throughout YNHHS.

New preceptors are required to complete:

  • An online training module. In LMS, go to the Course Library and type “preceptor” into the filter search bar. Choose YNHHS Nurse Preceptor Development.
  • A two-hour, in-person class. Classes will be held at each delivery network; nurses may attend class at any delivery network location, regardless of their home delivery network.

Current preceptors who completed the LMS module before May 1 do not have to complete the in-person class.

Experienced preceptors can now access upskill tools, including the BEER Feedback Model, Scope of Practice Tipsheet and LMS preceptor refresher content.

For more information, visit the YNHHS Nursing SharePoint site, under Departments & Communities on the employee intranet. Choose Preceptor from the right menu.
