Northeast Medical Group Community Outreach Committee members recently volunteered at Winthrop STEM Elementary Magnet School and C.B. Jennings International Elementary Magnet School in New London, and Quaker Hill Elementary School in Waterford for Read Across America.

Read Across America is a year-round National Education Association initiative that encourages a love for literacy among children and teens and emphasizes the importance of diversity and inclusion.

“The kids were so excited for us to read to them and were giving us hugs to show their appreciation.,” said Lauren Silva, MA. “Showing kids that we like to read as well can encourage them to read more. Getting them engaged in reading in their early years will only help them more in the future. They look up to us so it's important we have a positive impact on them.”
