New Haven CT (Nov. 10, 2016) – Richard D’Aquila has been named president of Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS), in addition to his current role as president of Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH). In his new role, he will collaborate with local healthcare providers and hospitals to enhance access to specialty medical care in local communities across Connecticut.
“We have done great work across the Health System in our effort to provide improved access to specialty services to the patients we are privileged to serve. Many of our signature programs, such as those offered at the Smilow Cancer Hospital and our Children’s Hospital, along with highly specialized services in heart and vascular care, neurosciences, and solid organ transplantation serve patients that travel great distances,” said Marna Borgstrom, CEO YNHHS and YNHH. “Rick has led the team of talented physicians and leaders who built these services and is uniquely qualified to oversee the expansion of these services going forward.”
D’Aquila joined Yale New Haven Hospital in 2006 as executive vice president and chief operating officer and was named president in 2012. He has led the hospital during a period of dramatic clinical program growth and oversaw the integration of Yale New Haven and the Hospital of Saint Raphael in 2012. Yale New Haven Hospital is now one of the largest and highly regarded hospitals in the country with partnerships with other hospitals in the state, including Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, Milford Hospital and Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
D’Aquila and his wife Kathleen live in Westbrook and have five children and two grandchildren.
