Hospital staff, auxiliary members work on dance moves for gala

Thursday, April 2, 2015

Bridgeport, CT (April 1, 2015) – A group of staff members and auxilians will headline the Bridgeport Hospital Auxiliary spring gala, Dancing with the Hospital Stars, Thursday, April 30, 6 pm, at Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield.

Drs. Kenneth Lipow  and Scott Thornton, nurse Alida Shea, Executive Director of Clinical Operations  Gina Calder, and auxiliary members Rita Crispino and Maria Watson will pair up  with professional dancers in a good-natured dance contest during the fundraising event.

Proceeds from the gala will support the waiting room in the future ambulatory surgery center at Bridgeport Hospital’s Park Avenue outpatient campus in Trumbull, the Dr. Tom Kennedy Toy Closet at the hospital, nursing scholarships, equipment for Ahlbin Rehabilitation Centers and grants to benefit the well-being of patients.

The gala will also serve as a welcoming event for the physicians of PriMed, the large multispecialty medical group that affiliated with Bridgeport Hospital by joining Yale New Haven Health System’s Northeast Medical Group last year.

The gala is co-chaired by auxiliary president Bonnie Molloy of Fairfield, Amparo Castillo of Monroe and Mary Ellen Bertini of Stratford. It begins with cocktails and a silent auction at 6 pm, a buffet at 7 pm and the Dancing with the Hospital Stars show at 7:45 pm. Dessert and coffee will follow the show.

Tickets range from $150 to $500 and a portion of each ticket is tax deductible.

“Working together, we can make a real difference for Bridgeport Hospital and the community of patients we serve", Molloy said.

For information, call the auxiliary office at 203.384.3331.
