BRIDGEPORT, CT (Nov 3, 2021) – Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center in Trumbull and Yale Cancer Center will provide free lung cancer risk assessments on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, from 8 am – noon. Assessments will be performed by Vincent Mase, MD, and Megin Iaccarino, APRN, lung cancer screening coordinator for Yale Thoracic Surgery. If eligible, a lung cancer CT screening may be done on the same day. All veterans in attendance will receive a Smilow Cancer Hospital Challenge Coin. The assessments are open to all current and former smokers.

Dr. Mase uses the latest technologies for the surgical treatment of lung cancer, chest wall deformities and other problems that affect the chest. He is skilled in performing minimally invasive thoracic surgery. He treats patients at the Yale New Haven Hospital campus, Bridgeport Hospital campus and the Park Avenue Medical Center campus in Trumbull.
Dr. Mase is also a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves and has close to 20 years of service time, both on active duty and in the reserves. His duty assignments include Schweinfurt, Germany; Seoul, South Korea, and a combat tour in Tikrit, Iraq.
